Description:
Based on recent studies, two thirds of American children are unable to read with proficiency. There are many different skills that all must work together in concert for a child to be able to read or write with ease. This webinar will cover what all of those skills are and provide guidance on which educators and professionals are best equipped to treat each one. Specific strategies will be shared for supporting students who are struggling with visual processing/tracking, word recognition, reading fluency, oral language skills, spelling, writing conventions, and sensory/motor.
Learner Objectives:
By the end of this webinar, you will be able to…
- List all of the skills required for reading and writing.
- Describe how to choose skills to target for a student and which team members should target them.
- List strategies or resources for each of the following literacy-related skills: visual processing/tracking, word recognition, reading fluency, oral language skills, spelling, writing conventions, and sensory/motor.
